Concentration Camps
One of the punishments in the nazi concentration camps was hanging. The people killed in this hanging were Johann Pauls, Waclaw Kozlowski, Fanciszek Szopinski, and Jan Breit. This photo was taken on July 4, 1946, one year after WW2 ended."If you do not behave, you will surely end up at Dachau."said Theodore Haas. The words concentration camp refer to a camp were people are confined, usually under horrible conditions. The Nazis maintained concentration camps throughout the territories it controlled. The first Nazi concentration camp set up in Germany were greatly expanded after the Reichstag Fire of 1933. The Nazis did horrible things to these people like starving, hanging and whipping them.

Another punishment
This picture was taken in January 1945 at Mauthausen concentration camp of prisoners as you can tell they are severely under weight. This is another example of punishment starvation. Giuliana Tedeschi said, “There is a place on earth that is a vast desolate wilderness, a place populated by shadows of the dead in their multitudes, a place where the living are dead, where only death, hate and pain exist.” This quote is talking about all the pain and death that occurred at this camps and starvation was a way this pain, hate, and death occurred. The picture was taken by Dokumentationsarchiv des Oesterreichischen Widerstandes.
